M.Sc. in Advanced Clinical Practice (Standard pathway)
Our MSc Advanced Clinical Practice programme and its pathways are designed for those working at or towards the role of 'Advanced Practitioner' or another similar role and includes nurses, allied healthcare professionals and pharmacists.
Practitioners usually work at the interface between their own profession and medicine. Core content focuses on key knowledge and skills such as advanced health assessment, diagnostics, pharmacology and (where possible) non-medical prescribing, underpinned by content related to complex decision making, risk management, leadership, and evidence based practice. At the end of the taught component of the programme (i.e. before the dissertation) all pathways include final competency assessment as an 'Advanced Practitioner', and linked development of a clinical portfolio.
It's only possible to be accepted onto the programme if you are a registered healthcare professional working in a suitable practice setting and role as this is where your practice based learning and assessed clinical practice will take place. You will also need to have manager support, and to have an identified clinical mentor (usually a medical practitioner) from within your practice setting.
